A vast majority of adults in the United States are overweight or obese and millions of Americans are trying to lose weight. For many, it is an uphill struggle filled with hard work, dedication and both excitement and let downs. Did you ever think about why the weight loss industry has not worked for so many dieters?
We would all like to find a shortcut when it comes to weight loss, so we jump on one when it is offered to us and we spend a lot of money every year on weight loss products and services. The diet and weight-loss industry is a multi-billion dollar industry that, like our waist lines, keeps growing every year.
There are so many products and so many more promises of these products working that it can be quite confusing and there are a lot of people who make money every day by keeping us confused about their products. They know that we are eager and desperate to lose weight and their hopes of getting us to buy their diet foods and pills rest on convincing us that we will need experts and special help to achieve weight loss. They are not in any way interested in the delivery of permanent results. If they showed us how to lose weight and keep it off, we wouldn’t have to keep purchasing their products, attend their meetings, and buying their special foods. The industry is predominantly driven by profit and it is built on repeat business which isn’t very good for you and I and the fact that we just want to lose weight, get in shape and stay that way.
They thrive on our failure, and they need us to keep coming back to them for business, keep spending money on their products, services and advertised “solutions.” It would be a very short-lived business if we all succeeded the first time. Their whole business model depends on our failure. The weight loss industry isn’t there to help us lose weight for the long haul, they are offering us quick and temporary solutions to a life-long problem.
As long as each and every one of us remember that the weight loss industry isn’t working for us and we have to use our better judgment when it comes to weight loss, we will all do just fine. With hard work and motivation, you will lose the weight. With willpower and the dedication to your new lifestyle, you will keep the weight off. It’s a tough battle, but it’s one that we can all win if we try hard enough.
